No Date or Edition noted. The Copyright gives 1958 and from the style/format of the book that could be correct? But please do your own research on this? . Black boards with bright gilt titling to the spine and a small gilt stamped publishers' logo on the bottom corner of the front board. In the original publisher's pictorial dustjacket. Dustjacket is clipped on the top and bottom edges of the front and rear flaps. The base colour to the spine of the d/j is faded but all lettering/titling is still very clear and bright. The d/j is rubbed losing a small amount of the surface to the edges due to shelfwear/age. There is a sticker on the front cover/spine of the d/j stating "A Harper Blue Ribbon book -This seal identifies a book of tested Excellence conforming to the highest editorial standards. ". The page fore-edges are slightly stained/browned to the top edge and are lightly and uniformly browned/tanned on the irregular 'rough cut' page edges. NO Inscriptions or other Marks. There is some slight 'light' fading to the base colour of the d/j spine where the colour has changed from a red/darker blue to a lighter red/blue - but all titling/decoration is clear, easily readable and bright. Page edges are 'Rough-cut' and the page Fore-edges are slightly tanned/foxed. Overall the d/j Is VG Minus. No Inscriptions or Marks. (xxii) + 250 pp. Illustrated in b/w. Maps in b/w. Index.
