Gerard Morice The Victoria Cross . How it Was Won; How it Was Lost; How it Came Back Again London T. Nelson and Sons 1892 First Edition; First Printing Hardcover Good with no dust jacket In the Original Publishers' decorated cloth with gilt titling to the front cover and a gilt band with the title picked out in it on the spine. Plain light blue rear cover with a blind stamped logo/decoration in the centre of the rear board. Some wear/rubbing to the extremities, and some marking to the boards, but overall sound and tight. All hinges secure. Pale grey Floral endpapers. The name 'Alexander' is written in smudged ink on the reverse of the Frontispiece. The page fore-edges are browned/spotted - ingrained dust mainly. Internally the book is generally VG, clean & tight, tho there is a little 'thumbing' to a couple of the blank margins. There is a b/w Frontispiece and a b/w vignette to the Pictorial Title with a tissue guard between them (printed on glossy 'art' paper). There is also a Printed Title page, with the date 1892 at the foot of the page, following the pictorial Title. 156pp with 4pp Publisher's book adverts at the end. " A Scarce (Juvenile) Victorian novel set in the Anglo Zulu War in 1879." - the words 'A story for the young' on the front cover. The book is now in a new protective clear - removable - bookfilm plastic cover and looks VG. ; 12mo 7" - 7½" tall Price:
