TWO Antique Photographs c.1890s of People with Dog Carts (Dogcarts) - probably for delivering/collecting MILK, as far as I can see/understand. Both photos have been taken from an antique album. The surrounding mounts/card boards are tatty, with some loss and discoloured, but the sepia images are very clear. There Is no way to identify the locations but I think these are British and probably from the south of England as there are 2 commercial photos on the reverse of each card, one of 'Exmouth' (Frith) , and on the other of the 'Natural Arch Torquay'. As far as I can gather Dog Carts were banned in Britain from 1900, though were more common in Belgium, The Netherlands and Ireland. Unfortunately no location cited - but I'm pretty sure these are British (or Irish? ). The album was full of British images only. 'Dog Cart' Images (without card backs) measure 7.1" x 4. 7" (18 cm x 12 cm) and 8.2" x 6.0" (21 cm x 15.3 cm) . Images on the reverse larger. Quite scarce. See Images; Each Oblong 8vo
