In original half leather/marbled boards, gilt titling to the spine. The boards and the leather spine and corners are very rubbed and worn, the front board is completely detached, and the rear hinge of the spine is splitting down most of the length, but holding. Page fore-edges are dusty/browned. However in very good condition internally, tightly bound, and generally very clean. Formerly in the Seafarers' Education Service Library - Crew's Library with their book plate on the front pastedown and a blue 'Withdrawn' stamp, but NO other Library markings anywhere in the book. Opposing this on the ffep is a 'Presentation plate' and the former owners' name and location written by her in ink (Joanna Greenlaw - a well known author having written books on horology and the sea, etc) - a couple of holes in this endpaper. (4) + 1148 pp. Three Full page b/w plates, a b/w map and some line drawings /diagrams in the text. Contents cover various "subjects connected with Maritime Affairs..."
