FIRST Edition. Near contemporary/or contemporary half green leather (spine and corners) blind stamped decoration to the spine, with marbled boards. A burgundy coloured title label to the spine with bright gilt titling, plus gilt banding and decoration to the spine. Base colour to the spine has drkened to a browny-green with age but all very clean and clear. Extremities a little rubbed, and 2 names, and an address, to the plain front free endpaper, both from a local Carmarthenshire family named White - and the book was also bound by the family as indicated by a small binders label at the end 'Bound by H. White and Sons, Carmarthen'. (xii) + 210 pages. With a VG large fold-out chart. A very good, clean, tight and bright, complete copy of this Delightful Period Guide to Wales at the turn of the Nineteenth Century. Llanelli gets short shrift - " LLANELLY, a miserable, dirty place, filled with minors and sailors. From hence to KIDWELY,..."
