A most attractive and richly coloured lithograph of what I assume is a Chinese Lady. I assume with original hand-colouring, even though coloured lithography had been invented by the time this print was produced - I doubt the brilliant colours used here were printed, so more likely to be finely hand coloured like many of Travies' other prints of the time. No Date shown, but with Edouard Travies' printed signature on the bottom left of the print. Édouard Traviès (1809 -1876) was a French watercolourist, lithographer and illustrator. He regularly exhibited works at the Paris Salon between 1831 and 1866 and was primarily known for his paintings of natural history subjects, especially birds. I have been unable to find the source of this costume print. No date or publisher shown. The edges of the print are very torn/ragged/with loss to the margins, but all tears are closed and the print could easily be mounted and framed with no damage shown. A Lovely image. The print, without the blank margins, measures c. 11.5" x 8.5" (29 cm x 21.5 cm). Very Attractive and Rare. See Image. ; 4to 11" - 13" tall
