Very dark browny-black cloth-covered boards, decorated in blind tooling all over, with gilt titling/lines to the spine. Some edge/head-tail/corner wear, and some signs of re-gluing to the cloth, but overall clean and sound, and quite presentable. Page fore-edges dusty and toned with age. Internally plain yellowy endpapers with traces of a cover having been over this book at some point. On the front pastedown are 2 former owners names, the top one in ink with place/date (Nathanial Morgan. Ross1850) the lower one in pencil - Joseph Morgan. Hereford, and a further name (indecipherable) at the top of the front free endpaper. Inner paper hinges sprung. (xiv) + (2) + 223 pp + 24 pp publishers' catalogue at the end. The text block has some light spotting, browning and thumbing here and there, but overall is pretty clean. Black and white tissue guarded frontispiece of Edward Williams "etched by Robert Cruikshank from a memowriter drawing by E. W." , with his facsimile signature. 7 Chapters of 'recollections and anecdotes' by the author including a full page b/w plate of Iolo Morganwg from "personal recollection", a b/w vignette drawing of Flimstone Church, and a 'commemorative sonnet', all by Waring. Plus a 63 page Appendix filled with a variety of articles, etc, on all things Iolo and Wales related! A Scarce title in this original form - See Images. ; 8vo 8" - 9" tall
