An Original illustrated 'newspaper' / magazine. Illustrated throughout with b/w photographs/illustrations, full page, multi-photos to a page and double page pictures, etc. Produced during the First World War. This issue is mainly concerned with 'The War in Europe, the Middle East and Russia'. Articles include : - ' The New British Offensive on the Western Front - The Attack between Lens and Arras'. ; 'The United States and the Enemy Outlaws : America's Battle-fleet Tabulated and Described.' ; 'The Russian Revolution'. ; ' The Fight for Bagdad : How the Lancashires Struggled for a Bridgehead on the Diala'. 'The German Submarine And its Fell Work'. ; 'On the Russian Front and Behind it : An Illustrated Narrative by Scotland Liddell. A Double page b/w illustration of 'Germany's Attack upon Hospital Ships and the Symbol of the Red Cross at Sea' - Drawn by Charles Pears. Plus a Full page 'Roll of Honour' - with small individual photographs - for Officers killed whilst serving; and 'The Great European War Week by Week'. Also a few minor articles on other topics including : - 'Women's Sphere in Wartime', 'In the Petrol World', etc. Quite a few b/w adverts in the magazine, many with war-related themes, many not. Rear cover has a lovely full page pictorial 'The Greys' cigarette Advert in blues/pinks/oranges. The Front cover has an oblong vignette picture of 'Circus Elephants helping to Fetch and Carry on a Surrey Farm' - see image - plus Adverts, decorated border, etc, all in blues/oranges.. Some splitting/spotting to the spine edge, with a few marks, Internally VG. Overall VG. A fascinating period magazine and very topical given the current release of the film 1917. I have 9 Original copies of this illustrated newspaper dated 1917 (but NOT a 'run') that I am currently listing - so do enquire if interested in more than just this or any others - or the lot - during these dates.
