FINE Light Tan cloth boards with bright gilt titling to the spine. In the original publisher's illustrated dust-jacket. The dust-jacket has some slight fading to the base colour of the d/j spine and inner edges, but all lettering deep and clear - negligible, and is not clipped. The d/j is now in a new protective clear - removable - bookfilm plastic cover and looks AS New. Clean page fore-edges. NO Inscriptions or marks. Looks unused / unread . "It is December 1858, and in West Wales the small town of Llandeilo is preparing to celebrate the return of Lord Dynevor, its greatest landowner. Thomas Jenkins, the town carpenter, has been put in charge of the entertainment, in particular of the fireworks. In his diary he records a busy week.....December 3: Made 30 torches. Labour and materials, 15/9.....December 6: Lord Dynevor and family arrived at 6pm. Town illuminated. Made 20 fireballs .......December 7: Dynevor Castle caught fire at 8pm ... ... (! ) ...The story of this Welsh 'Leonardo' in his own words. Set in Llanddewi Brefi in the authors youth, then for a time in Carmarthen, and for the remainder of his lifetime in Llandeilo. This is the Fascinating Diary of a Master Craftsman (A Cabinet Maker by trade) who travelled this area of Wales and further afield to Pembroke Dock and Bristol, etc, more than a century and three-quarters ago.
