Black and white frontis. Will Rogers ( 1879 - 1935 ) was an American folk-hero who was killed in an aeroplane crash. He started out as a ranch-hand, but from 1902 appeared in a variety of Wild West shows as The Cherokee Kid. Subsequently, stage work, journalism and radio were followed by a successful career in film where his ad-libbing earned him a reputation as a home-spun philosopher, encapsulating the wisdom on the common man. ; 002962; 8vo
